Title:'I Just Don't Think We Have The Luxury To Have Dreams Anymore'
Date:3/24/20
URL:https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/opinion/coronavirus-recession-gen-z.html?searchResultPosition=2
Brief Description: The article is written by a junior at Yale University and reflects the angst of Gen Z who plans to enter the job market in the coming years. Internships are being cancelled, job interviews and start dates are being postponed, they will be entering a depressed job market in a few years. The author also talks about a friend who wants to be a writer but is considering working in a more stable field so they have economic security.
Keywords: College Affordability
Future Implications: Gen Z has been around for about two decades but has lived through earth-shattering events like 9/11, the great recession of 2008 and the coronavirus pandemic. Living through these events has to have altered their worldview. I believe that living through yet another recession will impact what this generation thinks of higher education. If they view themselves as not being able to get a good job out of college they may forgo the higher education experience altogether or conversely do extra schooling in hopes they graduate into a better job market.

Title: Survey Finds Numerous Fears of Enrollment Leaders In The Coronavirus Era
Date: 3/18/20
URL: https://www.insidehighered.com/admissions/article/2020/03/18/survey-finds-numerous-fears-enrollment-leaders-coronavirus-era
Brief Description: A recent survey conducted revealed that many colleges expect the Covid-19 pandemic to affect college enrollment next year. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the worst possible scenario, these colleges were asked to rank how negatively the pandemic will affect college enrollment. 43% of them said 5, 32% said 4. 87% said they were worried future visits would drop off because of the pandemic. 18% of colleges are also deferring enrollment from international students who were greatly affected by the pandemic.
Keywords: Enrollment
Future Implications: If college enrollment drops off, colleges may have to raise tuition to cover costs, this could dissuade students from attending college because it's already expensive and further raising these costs may force students further into debt.
