Brief Description: Due to college campuses across the nation closing down many students who are graduating this year are losing a lot of their professional development opportunities including job interviews on campus and job fairs. It is also expected that a lot of job offers will be rescinded because companies will not be able to afford any new workers.
Keywords: College
Future Implications: I am curious to see what the class of 2020 will do in response to the economic recession brought on by the Covid-19 crisis. I theorize that instead of entering the job market a lot of these students may attempt to continue their school as graduate students which could overwhelm demand of grad school and push out deserving students who had planned on attending grad school, recession or not.

Article: Not every student should go to college and that's ok

Date:3/10/20
Brief Description: In 1990 it was recommended by 2/3rds of high school counselors that all of their students go to college. A survey of 1000 college students revealed that 74% of them went to college because it was expected of them. Another significant number of them did it to get away from a bad home situation. Instead of forcing all students to go to college, the article recommends that some of them consider a technical college or a non-traditional education so they can get a degree in something useful to them.
Keywords: College
Future Implications: If more students attend non-traditional and technical colleges, then on the downside its possible college tuition could get raised if fewer and fewer students attend colleges. However, conversely, this means graduation rates could rise and class sizes could be smaller which is tremendously beneficial to students.
